The Youth Job Connection program offers a range of services and opportunities for young people to learn about jobs and gain work experience. The program addresses the gap in youth employment programming for young people who are neither in education, employment or training. These youth face some of the greatest employment needs and experience significant employment barriers. These barriers include some combination of challenging life circumstances, limited work experience, low levels of education or literacy, a lack of motivation, and discrimination. The goal is to secure long-term employment and meaningful careers.
The Youth Job Connection employment program provides eligible participants with:
- Mandatory pre-employment paid training (60 hours)
- Assistance with job preparation
- Paid job placement up to 26 weeks
- Transition supports after the job ends
- Not attending full-time post- secondary education during the training and placement parts of the program
