The meetings will be a chance for newcomer youth to participate in lively discussions with settlement workers about their journey to community, services and education. The meetings will be recorded, and the discussions will be used to create illustrations that will be posted on our website.
This is an exciting paid opportunity for newcomer youth, and we are currently seeking individuals who fit the following criteria:
- Lived experience as a newcomer youth
- Has settled in Canada in the last ten years
- Is between the ages of 16 - 30
- Participants who identify as newcomer youth AND who are not currently employed in the settlement sector will receive honorariums for attending meetings
Preference will be given to youth who are available for all 3 meetings and youth will be compensated for their time. Each participant receives $45 per meeting. These are the meeting dates and times:
- Journey to Community: February 1, 2024, from 3:30 to 5 PM.
- Journey to Services: February 22, 2024, from 3:30 PM to 5 PM
- Journey to Professional Development and Education: March 14, 2024, from 3:30 PM to 5 PM.
